Eunice Dean

Eunice Ruth Dean SUFFOLK - Eunice Ruth Dean, 71, went to be with her Lord April 4, 2008, in her residence. Born Aug. 3, 1936, and raised in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Dexter Cecil Pickett and Elizabeth Pickett Lambertson. She was a member of Nansemond River Baptist Church and retired from K-Mart. Ruth is survived by her loving family, including her three daughters, Gwen Dean Woodard of Suffolk, Darlene Dean of Portsmouth, and Wanda Dean Keith and husband Jeff of Portsmouth; son, Franklin Dean and wife Cynthia of Poquoson; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Dexter "DC" Pickett of Michigan; sister, Francis Travis and husband Tom of Portsmouth; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother to many people, and a caring friend to all she knew. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Nansemond River Baptist Church by Dr. Timothy L. Piland. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, Suffolk.
