Mary Carruth Obituary

Mary Clyde James Carruth was escorted into eternal rest on Monday morning, August 7, 2023 at Maryview Hospital. She was the wife of Bishop Samuel L. Carruth, and was the co-founder of Holy Light Church of Deliverance, established in 1967. Mother Carruth, as she was lovingly known, served in a myriad of aspects in ministry, compelling souls to Christ. Words cannot convey how intently and effective her labor of love was, how greatly it was received, and how it has impacted the church and generations of people. Her oldest daughter, Linda C. Blake and her oldest grandson, Samuel I. Blake preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: her beloved and faithful husband, Bishop Samuel Carruth, 69 years of blissful marriage. She also leaves to mourn three (3) daughters: Ms. Fayette Alston, Pastor Dorene Norris (Deacon Robert), Elder Shorron Vinson (Deacon Noel), a special niece and nephew, Claudia Thompson (Hiram) and

William Carruth (Karen); eight grandchildren: Shaconda Peterson (James), Andrea Newsome (Pastor Antonio), Cherie Alston, Roderick Blake (DeAntwoinette), Raynard Norris, Travis Sessoms (Maiya), Jayden Vinson and Jada Vinson; a special great niece and nephew: DeShira Thompson and Bryant Thompson; five great grandchildren: Geramiah Newsome, Keymaure Harris, Jeslyn Peterson, Adina Sessoms, and Travis Sessoms, Jr.; and one (1) great-great grandchild, Ivy Newsome. She also had a loving relationship with Anya Simmons and Nicole Foster. The public viewing will be Friday August 18 2023 4pm to 7pm at the church. The celebration of life will be held Saturday August 19 2023 11am at Holy Light Church of Deliverance. Corprew Funeral Home is in charge.

Giving honor to Bishop Samuel Carruth and the Family, I offer my sincere condolences in the transition of Mother Mary Carruth. I thank God for the times that I spent at Holy Light Church of Deliverance while attending and graduating from Holy Light College of Bible. Two of her daughters, Pastor Norris and Pastor Vinson, were my teachers. Thank you for your instructions and wisdom. I believe that you will carry on your mother's principles and God fearing faith. God bless the family and let the precious memories that you have of Mother Mary bathe you with lingering moments of peace and comfort. In loving kindness, Cynthia Lewis Williams, proud graduate of Holy Light College of Bible. Class of 2014.
