William Hash Obituary

William "Bill" Hash, 95, passed peacefully into the arms of his loving Heavenly Father, Saturday, July 29, 2023, with his wife by his side.

Bill was born December 30, 1927, in Grayson County, Virginia to the late Ellis and Laura Hash. He was also predeceased by five siblings; his first wife of 37 years, Paige; children, Becky Burnett and Alan Hash, and granddaughter Rachell Hash.

Bill grew up on a farm where he learned gardening and beekeeping skills which he carried into adulthood. He enjoyed a career as a school photographer with Lifetouch Studios (Max Ward Delmar Studios) retiring in 1986. Bill and Gail enjoyed a full life of traveling in their Airstream trailer, worshiping wherever they were and meeting new friends. They spent many years living in Melbourne, Florida, before moving "back home" to Chesapeake where they landed at Willow Creek Gracious Living Retirement Community.

Left to cherish his memory are his youngest sibling, Carlene Landers (Zed); his loving wife of 38 years, Gail; his daughters, Tina White (Brad), and Lisa Fant (Steve); a daughter-in-law, Beth Hash; grandchildren, Ryan Edney (Maureen), Leslie Tatem (Paul), Lisa Miolla (Joe), Nikki Oliveira (Felipe), Jason Hash, Dylan Fant (Pilar) and Dakota Fant; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Logan Harp, Ashleigh Miolla, Liam and Colin Edney.

A graveside service will be private in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. A celebration of Bill's life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Great Bridge Baptist Church, 640 Battlefield Blvd, South, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends following the service, during a reception at the church.

The family would like to offer sincere gratitude to the comfort care team, and the nurses and staff on 2 South at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, for the compassion shown to Bill during his time in their care.

Friends are invited to sign the online guest book and to view the service via livestream at www.briggsfh.com

It was a pleasure to work with Bill when I was a high school student and later as a teacher advising the yearbook staff at Princess Ann High School. Bill was always available to give good suggestions, help correct our mistakes, and keep a keen eye on our budget all while making sure the students were involved in the process.
I've thought of Bill often over the years, hoping his retirement was one of joy. I especially think of him whenever I use the steak knife set he gave me more than 50 years ago.

Gail and family, I was saddened to hear of Bill's passing but rejoice in knowing he's with our Lord and Savior. Bill was a very nice and kind man. He took my school pictures more times than I can count and always was a delight. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
