CANTON - Adolph E. Kuzniar, 86, of Canton passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee, Fla.
He was born on May 3, 1921, in Canton to Michael and Katherine (Cizadlo) Kuzniar. He first married Betty Jean Randol. She preceded him in death on Nov. 8, 1992. He later married Eileen Flanigan in April 1993. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Steven (Sharon) of Canton, Gary (Alice) of Cuba and Randy (Diane) of Stockdorf, Germany; two daughters, Adele (Russell) Wilkinson and Missy (Jody) Cooper, both of Canton; three stepsons, Gary (Marilyn) of Athens, Ill., Kent (Adelaide) of Lacon, Ill., and Daryl (JoEllen) of Eureka, Ill.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; and 19 stepgreat-grandchildren. Two brothers, John Kuzniar and Michael (Bette) Kuzniar, both of Canton; and two sisters, Harriett Dilts of Canton and Agnes Parlee of Honolulu, Hawaii, also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.
Adolph was a World War II veteran, serving in the Coast Guard in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton and was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus and served as a faithful navigator.
He was also a member of the Lincoln-Douglas Toastmasters Club and involved in Junior Achievement.
He was employed for 42 years by International Harvester in Canton, retiring from the inspection department in 1982.
He loved doing things with his family, enjoyed home construction and working on cars, as well as boating and fishing. He also enjoyed spending the winters in Florida with Eileen.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton, with Father Arthur D. Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Canton.
