TREMONT - Carol K. Gibson, 73, of Tremont passed away at 3:36 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at her home.
She was born Nov. 12, 1939, in Pekin to George and Frances Redfern Hundt. She married Don Gibson on Aug. 17, 1958, in Pekin and he survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Susan Gibson of South Salem, N.Y.; four sons, Grant (Jessica) Gibson of Clarksville, Md., Tom (Teresa) Gibson of Pekin, Ken (Yvonne) Gibson of Tremont and Kurt (Joey) Gibson of Tokyo, Japan; seven grandchildren, Baileigh, Lucas, Blaine, Logan, Hannah, Chase and Halle; and one sister, Dolores (Ron) Scalf of Tremont.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Nicholaus K. Gibson; and an infant brother, Richard Hundt.
Carol was a member of Tremont United Methodist Church and Methodist Women. She worked as the church secretary and treasurer for many years and also served on the administrative council of the church. Carol was one of the original organizers of the Tremont Turkey Festival. She also served as treasurer of Ladies Mt. Hope Cemetery Association and on the boards of Tremont Public Library and Tremont United Methodist Child Care. She was also employed at First National Bank in Tremont for many years.
Carol enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Tremont United Methodist Church. The Rev. Chet Travis will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, also at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Tremont. Davis Mortuary in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Carol K. Gibson Scholarship Fund at Tremont United Methodist Church Child Care.

Don, please accept my heartfelt condolences in the passing of your wife. Her sister, Delores, and I rode the bus together when I was a junior high student. Carol was a wonderful human being. She cared about us and we all looked up to Carol and her sister.
