PEORIA - Daniel Arthur Carlson, 64, formerly of Peoria, died Monday, July 29, 2013, in his home in Dundee, Fla.
He was born Feb. 2, 1949, to George and Nellie Carlson.
Dan worked 35 years for WABCO/Komatsu as a machinist and quality-control inspector. He also served two years as the president of the union during the 1980s. He retired from there in 2007.
He was a talented artist, designer and Go-Kart racer. He coached JFL football during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
He was a loving father and son.
He is survived by his mother, Nellie Carlson; a sister, Vicky Osborn; children, Tonya Carlson Jolly and Chad Carlson; and three grandchildren, Micha Carlson, Isabel Jolly and Wilder Jolly.
There will be a wake beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at TJ's on Northeast Adams Street in Peoria.

I went to grade school and high school with Danny. He was always very calm, sweet, and cool! He was one of my first boyfriends! My sympathy, Kathi (McCormack) Miller.
