AVON - Phillip L. Combites, age 66, of Avon, Ill., formerly of Bushnell, Ill., passed away at 9:42 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, Ill.
He was born on Jan. 29, 1947, in Avon, Ill., to Donald D. and Viviene Nelson Combites.
Phil is survived by two sons, Kevin Combites and Alan (Becky) Combites, both of Avon, Ill.; one daughter, Melissa (Ed) Arnold of Prairie City, Ill.; four sisters, Judith Von Holt of Wyaconda, Mo., Sylvia (Bud) Schoonover of Bushnell, Ill., Mary Sanderson of Bushnell, Ill., and Deann Combites of Adair, Ill.; and one brother, Fred Combites of Avon, Ill. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Krysta, Deanna and Nathan Hilliard, Kayla, Kimberly and Kassie Combites, Bradley and Brandon Arnold; and two great-grandchildren, Cayden and Clinton; plus numerous nephews and nieces.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, one son (Thadeus) and one sister (Avis Carter).
Phil graduated from B-PC High School in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army from February 1966 to February 1968. He later worked at the Bushnell Tank Company as a welder.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell, Ill. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at the funeral home, where friends may call after 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Bushnell Cemetery.
