WILLIAMSFIELD - Ralph E. Mackie, 87, of rural Williamsfield died at 5:52 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 18, at the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jennifer Seder will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at the church, where Masonic rites will be accorded at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Williamsfield Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Shriners Hospital or to the Williamsfield United Methodist Church.
Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Jan. 29, 1928, in rural Williamsfield, the son of Earl Edwin and Clora Catherine (Robinson) Mackie. He married Louise Spencer on Jan. 1, 1947, in Williamsfield.
She survives, as do their children, Donna (Greg) Kneer of Galesburg, Greg (Theresa) Mackie of Columbus, Ohio, Rod (Cheryl) Mackie of Laura and Curt (Susan) Mackie of Williamsfield; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald (Helen) Mackie of Williamsfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ralph graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1945.
He had farmed, worked construction and had worked 18 years for the former Peabody and Midland Coal Companies. He also did custom combine work in the area from 1980 till 2002.
He was a member of the Williamsfield United Methodist Church and a 60-plus year member of the Victoria and Altona Masonic Lodges, serving as master for several years. He also belonged to the Valley of Peoria Scottish Rite and Shriners Mohammed.
He enjoyed flying, boating and horses. He was also a loyal Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
