Pekin - Shirley L. Dwyer, age 70, of Pekin passed away at 3:54 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2009, at Methodist Medical Center.
She was born on May 18, 1939, in Kingston Mines, Ill., to Charles R. and Evelyn Rawley Bitner. Shirley married Gale D. Dwyer on Oct. 22, 1956, in Pekin, Ill. He survives.
Shirley has been a homemaker for most of her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Debra G. Dwyer of Manito, Cheryl L. (Robert) Brain of Pekin and Kim R. (Michael) Steinborn of Manito; her grandchildren, Josh A. (Alaina) Gale of Pekin, Jordan Calvin of Pekin and Macey Steinborn of Manito; her two great-grandchildren, Jarek and Sonja; her two stepgrandsons, Ross and Chad Steinborn; her brother, Charles Bitner of Lehigh, Fla.; and her sisters, Karen Brakebill and Terry Bitner, both of Lehigh, Fla., Beverly (Terry) Harrison of Banner, Ill., Vivian (James) Harrison of Pekin and Renee (Ralph) Lawson of Pekin. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gary Bitner; and a sister, Linda Cornwell.
Funeral services for Shirley will be at noon Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
