GEORGE SISLER
PORTSMOUTH —George Sisler, Age 81 of Portsmouth, went to be with the Lord September 19, 2017 at his home He was born September 6, 1936 in New Boston to Arthur and Oral (Ash) Sisler. George was a long time devoted member of North Moreland Christian Baptist Church where he was the head usher and collected cans for years to support the church breakfast program. George witnessed to many people about being a Christian while he served the church and during the hours he spent collecting cans. He had an amazing memory for dates and was a WSAZ hometown Hero.
He is survived by a sister, Ruth Shoemaker of Sciotoville; nieces, Pamela Hoskins (Danny) of Dayton, Brenda Ocheskey of Wyoming, Donna Brenner of Columbus, nephews, Larry Sisler of Frankfort, John Patton of Wyoming; grand-niece, Amber Hoskins; and special friends, Paul and Janet Holbrook, Susie and Doug Munion, and the entire congregation at North Moreland Christian Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley Sissler and Algon Sisler; and one sister, Retha Madrid.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday September 24, 2017 at North Moreland Christian Church with Pastor Paul Hagen officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call Saturday from 5 - 7 p.m. at D.W SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston. Memorials are preferred to the breakfast program at North Moreland Christian Baptist Church at 1910 Harrisonville Avenue in Portsmouth. George was faithful to his Church, He made sure the Kids had a good Breakfast every Sunday, He collected cans to buy the food for the breakfast. He was a great person. Prayers for the Sisler Family. R.I.P George

He was a great person the first time I met him he was at my uncles house and I was told about George collecting can so I sent a letter into wsaz and made him hometown hero !! George will be missed by many!! He was great to kids and all !! Will be missed so much !!
