JOSEPH NEWSOM
FRANKLIN FURNACE-Joseph Nelson Newsom age 76 of Franklin Furnace died September 3, 2014 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born October 17, 1937 in Camden, TN to the late Edward Gordon Newsom and Frances Ocelia Sayles Newsom. He was a Korean War veteran in the US Air Force and was formerly employed at Martin Marietta.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Barcus Newsom who he married February 20, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio. Also surviving are two daughters, Wendy Diane (Chris) Payton and Cindy Jo Newsom and three brothers, Louie Swift, Benny Swift and John Newsom.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Newsom.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the HARRISON-PYLES FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Ronnie Blevins officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour before the service on Saturday.
