Marion Bennett Obituary

Bennett, Marion P. Age 80, a resident of Portage passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011. He was born on December 18, 1930 in Numa, IA, the son of Nova and Lela (nee Andrews) Bennett. Marion was married to Lenora M. (nee Hunt) Bennett in Centerville, IA on May 27, 1948. Marion was a Foreman (39 years) at U S Steel, Gary Works. He retired in 1988 and was a member of the Evergreen Memorial Baptist Church in Hobart. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to all. Marion is survived by his loving family; wife, Lenora M. Bennett of Portage, 3 sons; Ronald (Sue) Bennett of Hobart, Kevin (Susan Knutch) Bennett of WI, Richard (Heidi Hill) Bennett of Cincinnati, OH, 2 sisters Marilyn (Mac) Lloyd of Tennessee, Sharon Harlan of Illinois, 9 grandchildren, 2 step- grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, son in law, Jim Payne and other loving family and dear friends. Marion was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Cheryl Payne, brothers, Robert and Donald Bennett, Infant brothers; Harry Dwaine and Teddy Gene, stepfather, Gene Bozwell and brother-in-law Gene Harlan. Funeral services for Marion will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Burial will follow at Heritage Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 2:00-8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to Evergreen Memorial Baptist Church, 3900 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
