Amado Rivera Obituary
Town of Plattekill - Amado Rivera, of the Town of Plattekill, a retired technician for Wonderly Drapes in Kingston, entered into rest Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at St. Luke's/Cornwall Hospital-Newburgh Campus. He was 89.
The son of the late Isaias and Maria Marrero Rivera, Amado was born December 9, 1923 in Puerto Rico.
Amado was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and proudly served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a true family man, who enjoyed his family and his home.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Ada Torres Rivera at home, sons; William Rivera of Vero Beach, FL, Edgar Rivera of LaGrange, NY, daughters; Ada M. Rivera of Plattekill, and Barbara Gessner of the Town of Newburgh, a brother, Ray Rivera of Hyde Park, and sisters; Juana Vasquez and Carmen Vasquez both of Tampa, FL, Lucy Kelly of Peekskill, NY and Frances Rivera of Orlando, FL, grandchildren; Lauren Rivera, Anthony Rivera, Paul Gessner and Aeden Lebron, great-grandson, Gabriel Rivera, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will take place Friday, August 30, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Rd., Newburgh, NY.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 1250 Rt. 32, Plattekill, NY. Father John Jaume will officiate. Burial to follow in New Paltz Rural Cemetery, 81 Plains Rd., New Paltz, NY.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Gail tells me you were very close to your father and you are taking his loss hard. It is never easy to suffer these losses but the pain does subside but his legacy will always remain. My prayers are with you and your family.
