Jackie Higgins Obituary
Poughkeepsie - Jacqueline Elizabeth "Jackie" Higgins, of Poughkeepsie, New York, died Saturday, May 17, 2013, in the residence of her parents in Hyde Park. Ms. Higgins was an entrepreneur, and product designer who also worked as a substitute teacher for the Poughkeepsie Public Schools system. Before that she worked many years as a manager in the retail industry here in Poughkeepsie, and in Westchester County. An avid reader, and traveler, Ms. Higgins was committed to helping to educate youths.
Born November 3, 1960, in Cardiff, Wales, in the United Kingdom, she was the daughter of Albert Egbert and Frances Adella Higgins, who survive at home. She was preceeded in death by her long-time friend, Matthew Foley. She is survived by her brothers, Egbert Anthony of Pawling; Marlan Irodie and Frederick Thomas of Oxford, England; and John Cleave Uriah and wife, Kelli Gary, of Virginia; six nephews, two nieces; and many aunts uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 25th from 12-2 pm at Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home Inc, 39 So. Hamilton St., Poughkeepsie, (845) 452-1840. Funeral services will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memory of Jackie be made to a charity of one's choice. To send the family personal condolences, please visit our website at www.darrowfuneralhome.org.
