Margaret Slezak

Poughkeepsie - Margaret Y. Slezak, 98, of Poughkeepsie and a longtime Red Hook area resident, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie.

Born on August 24, 1919, in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Hedgus) Jezsu.

Margaret married Edward Slezak in 1972 at St. Christopher's Church, Red Hook and he predeceased her on Jan 13, 1986. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Malcolm Enkler.

In addition to raising her family, Margaret worked at Orchard Hill Farms in Red Hook and Western Printing in Poughkeepsie.

She was a communicant of St. Christopher's Church in Red Hook.

Margaret is survived by her son and daughter in law, John and Susan Enkler of Poughkeepsie, NY; her grandchildren, John (Christina) Enkler, Jr of Poughkeepsie, NY, James (Amy) Enkler of Staatsburg, NY, Kevin (Lynn) Enkler of Pleasant Valley, NY, and Jennifer (Bryan) Lauerman of Valrico, FL; her great grandchildren, Kathleen Enkler, John Enkler III, Meghan Enkler, Morgan Enkler, Jaxson Enkler, Mason Enkler, Alexandra Enkler, Zoey Lauerman, and Logan Lauerman; along with extended family and friends.

In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by a grandson, Carl Post; two sisters, Helen Lomoriello, and Mary Tanner; and three brothers, George, John, and Alexander Jezsu.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 4-7 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, November 3, 2017 at St. Christopher's Church, Red Hook, NY. Burial will be at Germantown Reformed Cemetery, Germantown.

Memorial donations may be made in Margaret's memory to the Hudson Valley Hospice, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
