Saverio Miniaci Obituary

Saverio "John" Miniaci

Saverio "John" Miniaci passed away at Calvary Hospital on May 27th. He was 86 years old. Born in New York City, he was the only child of Gabriel and Angelina Miniaci. John, as he was known, graduated from St. Anne's Academy in the Bronx. He went on to join the National Guard and served with them for nine years. After serving in the National Guard, John would work as a teamster for Union 807, Printing Press Mechanical. He enjoyed travelling and hunting in his younger days. He often traveled to Highland, New York where he would meet the girl he would eventually marry, Rose Pezzo. John and Rose would be married at St. Helena's Church in the Bronx in 1951. The two were married for 64 years. The couple would live in the Bronx, New Rochelle and eventually settle in Pelham Manor where together they would raise their five children. John retired at 62 but was never one to sit still. He went to work for Mavis for an additional 15 years. John was a truly happy man. He loved to cook and make wine and spent time with his family and friends.

John is survived by his wife, Rose and his children: Yolanda (Phil) Canino, Rosann (Ed) Fabiani, Debbie (Jim) Kier, and Luann (Jim) Prudente. He will be lovingly remembered by his twelve grandchildren and his nine great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son, John Miniaci.

A celebration of John's life will be held at Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Ave, Pelham, NY on Tuesday, May 31st from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 1st, 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 559 Pelham Manor Road, Pelham Manor, NY. I worked with John at Mavis for years. I am truly saddened to hear of his passing. He was one of the best people I have ever worked with. I still speak of John, often, and fondly. I wish I would have known he passed, I would love to have paid my respects.
