Esther L. Sisson
of Sidney, N.Y.Esther L. Sisson, 82, went to sleep peacefully in the arms of Our Lord surrounded by family on February 17, 2003. She was born on March 20, 1920 to John and Ellen (Nellie) Loftus in Norwich, N.Y. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 33 years, Ward D. Morgan, Norwich, N.Y.; and brothers, Joseph, Norwich, William Yardley, Pa.; and sister, Florence, Norwich. She remarried and spent 15 wonderful years with Robert Sisson, Gibertsville and Sidney, who also predeceased her. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ward David and Patricia Morgan, Binghamton; daughter and son-in-law, Rita Ann and Phillip Zorda, Roxbury, N.Y.; stepdaughter, Deanna Snell, Norwich, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Christine Ogden and her husband Jonathan Huntsville, Ala., Joseph and Brian Zorda, Hoboken, N.J., Marc and Christopher Zorda, Roxbury, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren, Rachel, Kevin and Daniel Ogden, Huntsville, Ala.; a dearly loved sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janice and Lyle Robb, Colorado Springs, Colo.; four nephews, Joseph and Johneen Loftus, Norwich, N.Y., William and Janet Loftus, Yardley, Pa., James and Valerie Loftus, Ft. Lee, N.J., Thomas Loftus, Norwich, N.Y.; three nieces, Linda Robb, Long Beach, Calif., Elizabeth Ann and Bob Horn, Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Carol Jean and Ellis Applebaum, Kaneohe, Hawaii; and several great-nieces and nephews. She graduated from Norwich High School in 1938 and married Ward in 1944, and worked for the Norwich Pharmaceutical Co. in Norwich until 1947 when she stopped to raise her family. She was an astute and self taught business woman. She worked for many years with Ward to purchase and own Hickok Coal & Oil Co. of Norwich, which is where she honed her business skills. She loved her plants and flowers, reading and was an exceptional cook. She also loved to knit, crochet and embroider, giving many beautiful gifts to friends and family. She was a loving wife, a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to the staff and volunteers of the Hospice Program at Lourdes Hospital for the special care and exceptional kindness given to our mother during her illness.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, 11:45 a.m., at St. Mary's Church of Kirkwood. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Norwich, N.Y. in the spring. Friends may call at Wm. R.
