Gerald Whelan Obituary
Conklin: Gerald T. Whelan, 85 of Conklin died Sunday April 7, 2013 at the Veterans Home at Oxford with his family at his side. He was predeceased by his wife JoAnn Whelan; his parents Percey and Julia Whelan and his brothers James and Joseph and his sister Margaret. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and Patrick Clark, Pt. Crane; Linda and Thomas Planavsky, Sanitaria Springs; his grandchildren, Meghan, Rachelle, Paige Stanton, Malissa Planavsky, Aaron, Britney, Meaghan Clark; many great-grandchildren. He was a retired 35 year employee of the IBM Corporation and a US Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Jerry was an amazing father and grandfather who adored his children, grandchildren and a great friend to all who knew him. Jerry was a pillar to the family he loved and will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton Thursday at 10 a.m. Reverend Gerald J. Buckley, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Silver Lake, PA at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.
