Jean Quataert was larger than life in so many of her endeavors--whether in her roles as scholar and teacher, her passionate intellect was inspiring. We all learned so much from her, and not only academically. She was a generous and supportive colleague as well. I will never forget her kind insistence that we take a walk together in the campus Nature Preserve. Walking off the grief, we came to call it. During these times we just walked quietly. This is what I will do in her honor.
I offer my condolences to her family and friends.

I was in graduate school at Binghamton and am deeply indebted to Dr. Quataert. She challenged me both immensely and kindly. I still treasure the comments on the papers she graded.

I did not know her, but Jean sounds like she accomplished what all of us should be striving for, making the world a better place and enjoying the time spent in it. Although it seems rather odd, I am smiling after reading about her.
Thank you Jean H. Quataert
