Mary Ann Macko

Endwell - Mary Ann Macko, 85 of Endwell, passed away, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 after contracting Pneumonia. She is survived by two children, Tamra (Joseph) Sedlacek, George Timothy (Lynne) Macko; five grandchildren, Will John, Mary Anna and Rachel Alexandra Sedlacek and Rachel's boyfriend, Austin Weston, George Daniel and Anna Claire Macko; her sister, Barbara McPherson; her sister-in-law, Anne Hopko; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Anna (Zapotocky) Hopko; her husband, George Macko, Jr.; her brother, Very Rev. Father, Thomas Hopko; brother-in-law, Jim McPherson. Mary Ann was a graduate of Union Endicott High School and NYS College for teachers in Albany. She taught High School English in the Vestal and Union Endicott School Districts for many years. She was a very active member of her church board, Sunday School, Ladies Guild and Choir. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. Many thanks to the staff at Hilltop Assisted Living, First Floor West, for their exceptional care and assistance, especially Stacy and Aaron, and to Hilltop Skilled Nursing Staff at JGJ, especially Karen Weeks; also Sr. Hermene at Lourdes for her guidance and support. Thank you to her special friend, Julie Dranichak who took her on several outings; her nieces, Julie Allen and Joyce Spak who visited her regularly; and her church friends, Anita Kaschak and Shirley Sulich, who always took her out on her birthday. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 am from the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott and at 11:30 am at St. Mary's Orthodox Church 1907 Jenkins St. Endicott. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Pucedo Funeral Home on Monday from 5 to 6:30 pm. The Very Rev. Michael Kleban will hold a Panachida Service Monday 6:30 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to St. Mary's Orthodox Church.
