David Burson Obituary

David Allen Burson
March 4, 1940 - December 27, 2022
David Allen Burson was born March 4, 1940, in Blythe, California. His parents divorced when he was a young boy, and, as a result he spent several years in foster homes. As an older teen, he began searching for ways to live independently, and the Coast Guard provided that opportunity.
During his four years of service, he was stationed in Alaska and worked as an Airborne Radio Operator in an Air/Sea Rescue unit. After leaving the service, he returned to California and there he met his future wife, Judy Brower. They were engaged a year later and married on February 4, 1967. That December they welcomed their first and only child. After marrying, he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and began a 30 year career with State Farm Insurance in Northern California.
He loved to spend time with family and travel. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially spending time at his cabin in the mountains. He was also a runner and completed several half and one full marathon. In his later years he earned his private pilot's license and enjoyed flying until his health no longer allowed it.
He was the best "Papa" to his grandsons. He was extremely proud of them, encouraged their hobbies and education, and they reaped the benefits of his support.
Dave passed away on December 27, 2022, at the age of 82 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was at home surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 55 years, Judy, his daughter and son in law, Cheryl and Bob Bradbury, and his two grandsons, David and Bobby. He was loved without limits, and we will miss him always.
He was a life-long animal advocate. If desired, donations can be made in his honor to Dogwood Animal Rescue Project.
