Kurt HAHN Obituary

HAHN, Kurt Inscoe Healdsburg Public Servant Says Goodbye to Sonoma County. Kurt Inscoe Hahn, age 78, of Healdsburg, CA passed away on April 8th, 2017. He was born in Vallejo, CA on August 5, 1938 -- the only son of Walter and Marian (Inscoe) Hahn. He was educated in the Monterey and Inglewood CA public schools and upon graduation served with United States Army at Fort Ord. He then attended University of Southern California where he received his B.A. in Business Administration and Political Science. From the late 1960s to 1973 he served on the Duarte City Council, while working for the City of Los Angeles and at Aerojet General Corporation as the finance director for the Apollo program. Kurt enjoyed a vibrant political life and worked on several Presidential, state and local campaigns. In 1967 he married Joandell Kelley Scinto at Wayfarers Chapel in Portuguese Bend, CA. Mr. Hahn's 40 plus years in public service career offers tremendous testimony to his character and leadership skills. After a four year stint in Wyoming working as a City Manager, Kurt settled into his current home community in Healdsburg California, where he and his wife were active in many endeavors. Mr. Hahn served as Finance Director for 22 years for the City of Healdsburg. Upon retiring he was instrumental in saving (along with Dr. Daniel Rose) the Northern Sonoma County District Hospital in Healdsburg, and served 15 years on their board, and more currently two years as Interim Executive Director of the Northern California Hospital Association. Kurt's integrity, wisdom, kindness, helpfulness and loyalty to his nation, community, family and friends, were benchmarks of his noble life of servant leadership. Beyond public service, he was active in the community in many ways. As an Eagle Scout and Silver Beaver, he was instrumental in supporting the Boy Scouts of America, serving as the President of the Redwood Empire Council of Boy Scouts. Additionally Kurt served as President of the Healdsburg Kiwanis Club, was a founding member of the Healdsburg Shared Ministries, was a 50-year-member of the American Legion, was a board member of CalPERS, held a position with the Sonoma County Taxpayers Assn., and was a member of the CA State Rural Health Assn. and CA Hospital Assn. His awards and recognitions go on and on, however he often would say that his family is his true legacy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Joandell; his son Daniel Scinto and wife Jeannie of Verdi NV; son David Scinto of Grass Valley; son Walter Hahn of Folsom; and youngest son Charles Hahn and wife Jessica of Southlake TX, and sister Sharron Ibsen and her husband Cliff of Huntsville, AL. Kurt was very proud of his eleven grandchildren who are now missing their Grandpa Kurt. A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Fred Young Funeral Home in Cloverdale, CA. Donations in his memory may be made to Stanford University Medical Center Cancer Research, Doctor Avani, or to a charity of your choosing.

Your family was one of the first friends we met when moved to Healdsburg, think it was about the same time you arrived. Memories of the move from the rental house by the airport to the new house in Healdsburg proved to be the first of many adventures for the Hahn and Schroeder familys. Am so happy we have all those memories for back up. Love you guys and please know I am as close as your phone Joandel. Miss all of you and love you very much.
