Norman SHELLEY Obituary

SHELLEY, Norman Lea Norman Lea Shelley left this life on January 15, 2015 in Everett, Washington where he was living his retirement years with his son and daughter-in-law, Bert and Raelyn Shelley and their children, Richard Spangler, Jr. and Brandi Shelley. It was just the 28th of December in 1927 that he was born in Vallejo, California to Lea and Edna Shelley. His family moved to Sonoma in 1936. He joined the riggers school at Mare Island when he was 16 and later when World War II came he joined the U.S. Navy serving in the Pacific. He served over 35 years as a rigger in Vallejo and Rio Vista. He married in 1956 and they had two boys, Bert Adam and Stephen Elliot. They also welcomed Leslie Ann into their family. Norman, his father Lea, and his brother, Sonny, shared a love of fishing and the outdoors. It was part of the legacy they gave to their sons and daughters, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Besides his sons and daughter, Norman is survived by his sisters, Lois Matthews and Joan Villarreal; his grandchildren Heather and Jeffrey Koehler and Brandi Shelley; his great-grandchildren, Ashley and Dylan Kivett, and Jaxsen and Tysen Koehler; his step-grandson, Richard Spangler, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A public gathering will be held at the Sonoma Veterans Memorial Star where Norman will be interred on February 2, 2015 at 11:30 a.m.
