Gary Paul Ostrowski, age 54, went to be with the Lord and family on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at his home away from home - Josina Lott Residential Community where he had resided for the past 25 years and was affectionately known as “Gary O”. He was born July 29, 1963 in Toledo, Ohio to Norman and Christine (Krall) Ostrowski. Gary loved to socialize. He was known for giving rock handshakes and fist pumps. He enjoyed getting dressed up for family weddings. Gary was a talented athlete and participated in the Special Olympics. He enjoyed swimming, wrestling, basketball, auto racing, snowmobiling, and boating. He was a big fan of hockey, especially the Toledo Walleyes. He was also an Ohio State Buckeye fan. He loved anything related to music - guitars, radios, and the “chicken dance” most of all. Gary appreciated all holidays and special times that came with them. He loved Rudolph, and Santa Claus. He liked ice cream any time of day or night, hamburgers and coke, and he collected batteries!
Gary is survived by his father, Norman P. Ostrowski; sister, Debra (Joseph) Mischloney; brothers, Ron (Stephanie) Ostrowski and Norm (Tammy) Ostrowski Jr.; nieces, Alison, Melanie and Kendra; nephews, Ken, John, and Joseph; and great-nieces, Peighton and Taytom. He was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Ostrowski.
Visitation will be Friday from 3-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. with a rosary at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass for Gary will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, preceded by visitation in the church from 9-10 a.m.

Sad to say that I just heard about the passing of one of my all time favorites, Gary O! I will never forget the many hockey games he and I enjoyed together and I'll never forget that smile and the whisper and the nose honk! I'll never forget the time he was injured badly in a go cart, and still insisted on taking another lap. That was Gary. I'll always think of him with a smile. There was no better feeling in life than when Gary would smile and whisper, "I like you". Thank you Gary for being you!

Norm, So sorry for your loss. I know what Gary meant to you and your family. I always remember when we used to car pool and when I dropped you off Gary always wanted to ride in my hot rod.
