George Buhler Obituary

GEORGE J. BUHLER Born March 28, 1922 in Blauvelt, New York passed away at the age of 85 on March 13, 2008 from congested heart failure and kidney failure. In 1948 he married Gloria Buhler, his loving wife of 60 years and had one daughter, Karen Buhler, and two grandchildren, Brian Jacobs and Leah Buhler. He came to California in 1942 and worked for the Santa Fe railroad for 38 years. He retired as a Trainmaster in 1981. He came to Temecula in 1982. He loved this town and was an active member of the community. George was instrumental in the Santa Fe railroad's donation of the caboose that now sits next to the community center on Pujol Street. In the early days he was an active member of the Temecula Community Association and a regular contributor to The Californian newspaper. George fought to keep Temecula a great city. In his free time he enjoyed collecting and refurbishing antiques. George will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors. Graveside services will be held at 1pm, Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the Temecula Public Cemetery located at 41911 C Street, Temecula, CA 92592. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in George's name to Scripps Memorial Cardiac Center in La Jolla, California. All arrangements are being handled by Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary. (760) 728-1689.

George,
Thanks for being my dad's best friend and for calling my dad when he was sick. You should have seen his face light up. I always looked forward to visiting Gloria and yourself in your 3 houses in Inglewood, Cerritos and Rancho California because of your humor and hospitality. Rest in peace.
Love Grant
