Grace Rice

RIVERSIDE GRACE ELIDA RICE Grace, the youngest daughter of Frank C. and Anna C. Teuber, born in Chicago, Illinois on November 29, 1920 slipped away on March 20, 2010 in Vista, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Evelyn and Lillian, and her husband of 41 years, LTC USAF (ret) Wendell H. Rice. Grace was a graduate of Schurz High School, Wright Junior College, and Sherwood Music School in Chicago. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her for she was always a cheerful and welcoming friend. Grace married Wendell on January 21, 1943 in Casper Wyoming after his graduation from flight training. While Wendell served in the 8th Air Force in England, Grace resided with her parents and gave birth there to their first son, Wayne. Subsequent to WWII, after a brief hiatus in industry, Wendell was recalled to active service in the USAF where they remained until his retirement in 1963. After numerous moves associated with military duties the family settled in Riverside, California. Scott, their second son was born in Riverside in 1955. Riverside became home and while there Grace became active in the Calvary Presbyterian Church, found an interest in playing golf with her husband, and retired from Security Pacific National Bank. After Wendell\'s passing she became active at the March AFB Air Museum where she became a fixture in the Gift Shop. She served as the Auxiliaries\' President. She also was President of the Retired Officers Wives of Riverside in 1986-1988. She will be sorely missed by both sons, LT. COL USMC (ret) Wayne H. Rice and daughter-in-law, Marcia of San Miguel, California and granddaughter Laura Kaye of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Scott C. Rice, MD, daughter-in-law, Robyn and Grandson, Christopher Scott Wetzel Rice and step grand-daughter Shaela Colegrove of San Diego. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 3/30/2010 at 11:00 am at Acheson & Graham Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at the Riverside National Cemetery at 1:01 pm Staging area #5.
