Dorothy , Keele, - 92, of Marmora, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2023.
Dottie was born on May 11, 1931 in Atlantic City, NJ to Bill and Marie Woods. Dot grew up on California and Artic Avenues as one of the Woods girls with her sister Patsy and cousin Florence. She married Otto Keele and moved to Pitney Village, then to Venice Park before moving to her beloved home on 20th Street in Ocean City. This is where she raised her children Billy, Darlene and Kathy and the family opened and operated Ocean City Glass Company for decades. Later she worked for many years as the information receptionist and notary at Ocean City Home Savings and Loan.
Dot's grandfather was silent movie actor Frank Woods. She was stage-struck and appeared in comedic character roles over the years at local theaters, as well the Walnut in Philadelphia and Off Broadway NYC. She had parts in The Prisoner on Second Ave, Social Security, The Importance of Being Earnest and Witness for the Prosecution with the Colony Club, Sea Isle City Players and Midsummer Night Players. In retirement Dot moved to Marmora, NJ and helped raised her great nephews Matthew and William, and great niece Shannon, never missing a birthday, school, holiday or sporting event.
She is survived by her son William Keele, daughter Darlene Keele, nephew Joey LaSala and wife Linda and family, Cousin Florence League and family, Niece Patti Laux and family, her neighbors in Marmora (considered her extended family) and her loving dog Daisy. In death Dottie joins her parents, sister Pat LaSala and youngest daughter Kathy Miller.
There will be a funeral mass on Thursday July 13 at 10 a.m. at Resurrection/Saint Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Marmora, NJ with visitation at 9:30 a.m.
