1945 - 2022

Michel, Frederick P. "Fritz", Sr., - 76, of Absecon, born July 13, 1945 in Hammonton to William C. and Leila "Lee" Michel, passed away surrounded by his loving daughter Jen, granddaughter Brittany, daughter-in-law Liz and wife Mary, June 15, 2022 after a short illness. Predeceased by William C. and Leila Michel and Joyce Michel (Messina) loving devoted wife of 34 years. Fritz leaves behind his friend/constant companion/fellow adventure seeker and wife of almost 11 years, Mary; son Frederick P. Michel, Jr. (Elizabeth "Liz"); Jennifer Purdy (Harry); granddaughters Brittany and Amanda Purdy; stepdaughter Laura Monahan; Michael Amadeo (Stephanie) and newest addition to the family, grandson Giordano Amadeo; brothers William Michel, Steve Michel (Aggie), Paul and Tim (Lucy), close cousin Janet Hollett, along with many nieces and nephews. Fritz was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Anyone that knew him knew he was a Godly man, which was evident in the way he lived his life. Lovingly known as Fritz, he started his career working with his grandfather (Poppy) at the tender age of 9 on various home projects. At 15 Fritz started working with his father as a mason where he honed his skills, eventually gaining the title of Master Mason while a member of Local 33 Union, Fritz passed his passion and knowledge onto his son with whom he enjoyed working alongside. Fritz's skills were not limited to masonry, he built each of his 5 homes, the Skate Park at Shore Fellowship where he was a long-standing member of the Men's Prayer Group; played any number of musical instruments and had a beautiful baritone voice; he was an untapped artistic genius; proud Oakcrest Class of 1964 graduate; clammer/fisherman, winner of many kayak races, lifelong camper, he had a passion for racing old cars, hotrods and motorcycles…and he loved to tinker. Fritz was an inspiration to many. As a doctor recently stated, "He was a man who lived many adventures and enjoyed more of life than most people will have the imagination/capacity to ever know."
