James Nickerson Obituary

James W. Nickerson, Jr., 69, of Brigantine, NJ, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hammonton, NJ, James was the loving son of the late James W. Nickerson, Sr. and Dorothy (Sutts) Nickerson. He was the devoted husband of Ellen M. (Gramkow) Nickerson, whom he married in November of 1979, and devoted father to his only daughter, Danielle Nickerson.
James was a graduate of The College of New Jersey, earning a degree in Special Education, and Widener University, where he attained a Masters in Business Administration. After graduating from The College of New Jersey, he was a teacher in the Vineland Public School system. After graduating with a business degree, he worked as a director at Showboat Hotel and Casino and consulted for various financial firms before joining WhiteSand Gaming in 2001. James worked for WhiteSand Gaming for many years and was currently semi-retired. He had a passion for golf, was a lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, was an avid reader of non-fiction, and was deeply immersed in politics, consuming every book, article, and broadcast he could find. His favorite pastime was taking his Jeep on the beach in Brigantine. He was intelligent, loving, dedicated, possessed a strong work ethic, and he was deeply committed to his wife and daughter.
James will be dearly missed and remembered by his wife, Ellen Nickerson; daughter, Danielle Nickerson; brothers, Jack (Roselle) Nickerson, Jay (Karen) Nickerson; sisters-in-law, Janis (Joseph) Agresta, Celia (John) Riggio; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and mother-in-law, Nancy Gramkow.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in James's name to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org/en/affiliates/pennsylvania. I remember going to Jim's house when they lived in Vineland Nj and playing with hm. His mom Dot and my father Robert were cousins.
