JAMES REILLY Obituary



REILLY, JAMES J. III - of Absecon, died Friday, December 7, 2012, surrounded by his family. Jim began his military career in the Navy Reserve, then joined the Marine Corp, where he was the youngest to receive the rank of Sergeant and was featured in the Corps Leather Neck Magazine. He finished his military career in the 177th Air National Guard, attached to the Security Police with the rank of SMSGT. He was an excellent marksman and was on the pistol team in competition. He also was a police officer for the Absecon Police Department, serving with them for 10 years. Jim was an avid fisherman. He and his wife Barbara loved to fish and shoot together. He will be sadly missed. He was a wonderful husband, father and brother. He is predeceased by his parents, James J. and Eva C. Reilly. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his 4 children, James IV, Shawn, Sherri Gobbo, Rick and one step-daughter, Denise Scheiter; six granddaughters, four grandsons, two great-grandsons; and his sister Janet Reilly Polizzotti. Visitation will be 10AM to 11:30AM, Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A remembrance service will be conducted at 11:30AM. I worked with Jim at the 177th Security flight. He was my flight leader. He had the best of the best flight. We were selected to bring in the nukes and also escort them out. I haven't seen Jim in a number of years. Wow! He will be missed. Love you Chief. Joe Thiel

Kris and I are praying for you. Jim was one of the first friends I made coming to this area. My first "BOSS" at the 177th and a life long friend. I regret being out of town for his service but know that I truely respected and loved him as a fellow service member but most of all as friend and mentor.
