JONATHAN C. BARRON

BARRON, JONATHAN C. 73 - of Avalon passed on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Born in Philadelphia to Elwood and Dorothy Barron, he spent his first 5 years in Upper Darby. He grew up in Avalon where his family owned Barron's Market and later Bob and Jon's TV. He raised his own family in Cherry Hill, retiring to Avalon in 1999. He received a BA from Rutgers before serving as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He earned Masters Degrees from Stevens Institute of Technology and Bryn Mawr College. He was a Mathematics Professor at Eastern University for 29 years and was honored by being declared Professor Emeritus. He authored 6 mathematics and computer programming textbooks. In retirement, he loved participating in the bowling league as a member of the Avalon Senior Citizens Organization. He designed websites for the Avalon Garden Club and the Avalon Performing Arts Center. His other hobbies included a lifelong love of photography, the music of Willie Nelson and the faithful companionship of his dog, Buddy. Jonathan is survived by his wife Joye of 53 years, (formerly Schiavone); his daughters Deborah (Daryn) Barron, Diane (Tom) Johnson, and Dawn (Jim) Schroff; his brother Robert (Muriel) Barron; and grandchildren: Jessica, Tyler, Kelly, Tory, Zac, T.J. and Ashley. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 95th and 3rd Ave., Stone Harbor, NJ 08247. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment of cremated remains will be at St. Mary's Church.
