Waldemar Schubert Obituary

Waldemar Schubert, formerly of Petersburg, Va., departed this life to be with the Lord on May 2, 2010.

He was born in Yale, Va., and resided in Dinwiddie County most of his adult life. He relocated to Aiken, S.C., at the age of 90 to be near his daughter, Arlene James, and her husband, Richard, of Aiken, S.C.

He is also survived by a son, Ron Schubert (Shirley), Gaithersburg, Md.; three grandchildren, Harold N. Higgins Jr. (Nyla), Chesterfield, Va., Wesley E. Higgins (Jody), Henderson, Nev., and Holly Schubert, Gaithersburg, Md.; and a sister, Helen Young, Stony Creek, Va. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren and three little great-great-granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Goldie Brewer Schubert, and his second wife, Frances Vaughn Price Schubert; his four brothers, Herbert, Frank, John and Richard; and two sisters, Dorothy Chappell and Ruth Chappell.

He retired from Allied Chemical Corp. Hopewell, Va. His family and friends will always remember him as being an avid flower and vegetable gardener. He was always willing to share and wanted everyone to enjoy the beautiful flowers and fresh food as much as he did. If you desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Homes of S.C. Foundation, 300 Ministry Drive, Irmo, SC 29063. The family would like to thank the entire staff of the Heritage at Lowman Home for the good care, kindness and respect given to "Mr. Waldie" these past two and a half years.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Petersburg, Va. Expressions of sympathy for the Schubert family may be left at www.georgefuneralhomes.com or to his daughter, Arlene James, C/O George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW, Aiken, SC 29801.
