WALLCE O. FAISON

Faison, Wallace Orwig of western Henrico died January 17, 2016. Mr. Faison was born on November 9, 1932, in Lewisburg, Pa., to the late Wallace Garland Faison and Lois Rutherford Orwig Faison of Colonial Heights. Wallace is survived by his wife, Shirley Bailey Faison and their three children: David (Holly) of Midlothian, Karen Cournow (Chris) of Henrico and James of Virginia Beach. Also surviving is his sister, Lola Bachmann (Joseph) of Sarasota, Fla.; grandsons, Bryan Faison (Katrina) of Midlothian and Michael Faison of Danville.

Mr. Faison was a 1951 graduate of Petersburg High School. Called to active duty, he served in Korea with the Army Security Agency. He was an Electrical Engineering graduate of VPI and was employed by Virginia Power for nearly 40 years. His engineering assignments included Petersburg, Norfolk, Richmond and Virginia Beach. He retired as Director-Engineering and Planning in Henrico. After retirement from Virginia Power, he was self-employed as a Consultant Professional Engineer in which he qualified as an expert witness in six states and the District of Columbia.

A lifelong Boy Scout, Mr. Faison earned the Explorer Ranger Award as a youth and was presented the Silver Beaver Award by the Robert E. Lee Council, BSA in recognition of this adult volunteer leadership service. Wallace was also an officer with Tuckahoe Little League at the Three Fields location on Starling Drive. He was a life member of the American Legion, a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the ASA Korea Veterans Reunion Group. As a licensed amateur radio operator, he enjoyed his retirement dabbling in high frequency electronic experimentation. Mr. Faison was a loyal alumnus of VPI and enjoyed following Hokie football. He treasured traveling with Shirley, boating and spending time with his family.

The family will receive friends at the Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23226 on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside funeral service will be held at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg Va., Thursday, January 21, 2016, at 11 a.m.
