I cannot believe it has been this long that he is gone. I think about Rollie and brother Ed all the time. They were both a big part of my life. I hope the good Lord built a rink for this duo before they checked in.

Stan and I are so sorry for your loss. This message is for the whole family especially Muriel, Marilyn and Carolyn as we would have been at the calling hours to speak to you personally had we not been in Florida. Stan and Rob were regulars at the shop and always came home with a story or two because it was such a gathering place. We will also miss seeing Rollie at Molly's fabulous birthday parties.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Our family sends our sincerest condolences to your family. My son and I are heartbroken that we missed the wake. We only found out this past weekend that Rollie had passed on. He was a daily part of our conversations whenever talking about hockey and my son's years with Pawtucket Youth Hockey. My son would not let any one else sharpen his skates. I remember when my son John had Rollie sharpen his skates right before a speed skating clinic. The skates had such an edge that when he went to stop at the boards while his skates and feet stopped his body kept going slamming right into the boards. It was hilarious! More than skate sharpening, Rollie was a joy to talk to on a Saturday morning while waiting for to get your skates sharpened. He will forever be thought of as a tradition in the Rhode Island Hockey community. May he rest in peace. We'll miss you but will never forget you.

Mrs. Woodcock, Mori and Rollie, It is always too soon. Because he was so loved, there will be tears. But there will also be the happy memories of your time together. Hoping those happy memories will be your first thoughts in the days to come. Thinking of you.

Mori, and Rollie... I will never forget the night of a game for EP, when I realized a rivet on my skate was missing. Your Dad fixed it for me as always, but when I asked him what I owed, all he said was "a goal". Thankfully that happened. Your Dad was a great man, and I was proud to know him. Hockey and Rollie are synonymous, and always will be. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time and always. Gregg Medeiros #12

My sincere condolences go out to the entire family. I met Rollie through his business as he sharpened not only my skates, but my friends skates to perfection. I live in Fall River which is a little distance from Rumford, but it was well worth the trip. He was a simple man who worked very hard and it was an honor to know him. Rollie will be sorely missed by all and his legacy in the area as the premier skate sharpener, will live on forever.

My condolences go out to the whole Woodcock family. Rollie, Eddie, and Tom were special to the Mullen family. Each one played for my Dad at Hope High School, and I was luckey enough to play with Rollie on the same line the year we won the State Championship. A special guy, who I went to visit just about a year ago. Enjoyed meeting Rollie Jr. for the first time. Please Rollie call me when you have a moment. Jim Mullen-508-864-1441.

There is no one from my childhood I admire more than Mr. Woodcock. He was the epitome of "doesn't say much, but when he does, it's important". I can still hear his one liners in my head. He made me laugh and made me think. To my grave I will pass on his advice "Work to live, don't live to work". He will be more than missed.

We will always remember "Rollie" for his wonderful sense of humor, charismatic personality and beautiful smile. Myles especially enjoyed talking to Rollie during fellowship hour at church about his hockey experiences and knowledge and the various games and players. He was a wonderful human being and he touched our family with his big heart. We think of Rollie's entire family as you go through this very difficult time.

Muriel,
You may not remember me, but we went to RIC together. A former student who knew your husband sent the information to me, thinking I knew Rollie. Anyway, I was amazed to see your name, and I wanted to tell you how very sorry I am about your loss. I hope your children and you will hold tight to the wonderful memories and stay strong with the love of family. Bobbi Abowitt

Dear Muriel & Family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy for Rollie. He was such a wonderful guy and I always enjoyed our great conversations while getting my skates sharpened. Rollie's wit and repartee were legendary and you could always get the latest hockey scoop from him. He was truly a RI Institution! My son Clyde was in awe upon his first visit to Rollie's Skate Shop. He immediately sensed that Rollie was the real deal when it came to all things hockey, and life for that matter.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. May God Bless Rollie and all of you. Respectfully,

Muriel & Family,
So sorry to hear of your loss.
Take comfort in knowing the joy that Rollie brought to so many of us. The weekly stop at Rollie's shop was a treasure. He was a part of my whole life and it was a pleasure to have my teenage daughter get to know him also (he called her the wrecker).
The hockey world is very sad today.
He will be dearly missed but remembered always!

Rollie represented a piece of hockey history throughout R.I. I will always cherish the times I spent sharing a coffee and listening to a story from my friend of some 40 yrs. I thank God I played hockey because that allowed me to meet and develop a life long friendship with my hockey legend; Rollie. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Muriel, Rollie jr and Mori are in my thoughts and prayers..
