Salvador Freitas Obituary

FREITAS, SALVADOR 'SAM', 83, of Abbey Dr. died Thursday in Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket. He was the husband of Ruth (McDonald) Freitas. They were married for 60 years.

Born in the Valley Falls section of Cumberland he was a son of the late Lucas and Virginia (Santos) Freitas. He was a life long Cumberland resident. He was employed by the former Collyer Insulated Wire Co., Lincoln for 32 years retiring in 1984.

He was a WWII U.S. Coast Guard veteran. He was a communicant of St. John Vianney Church, Cumberland and a member of the former Cumberland Grange.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Donna Lucitt of Lincoln and Joyce Dupre of Burrillville and three granddaughters. He was the brother of Piedade Lourenco and Deolinda Freitas both of Cumberland and Daniel Freitas of Falmouth, MA. He was also the brother of the late Mary Antunes and Angelo Freitas.

Funeral with military honors will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd., Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland. Burial following in Resurrection Cemetery Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 245 Waterman St. Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906 or Women and Infant's Hospital, Oncology Dept., Providence, RI.
