Thomas Kando Obituary

KANDO, THOMAS 85, of Pawtucket, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013. He was the husband of Delores (Jarjoura) Kando. They were happily married for 61 years. Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Norman and Mary (Khoury) Kando. Mr. Kando was an Army veteran of the Korean War. After graduating from Providence College, Tom was an assistant manager of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Pawtucket for 10 years. He later was an administrator for the City of Pawtucket Public Works Department for many years, retiring in 1991. A husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he loved spending time with his family, watching his children participate in sports activities and especially participating himself, playing basketball for many years at the Boy's Club. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Karen Sain, Leslie, Thomas, Kevin, and William Kando, Gina Rodigou, and Neil Kando, his brother, Joseph Kando, seven grandsons, Nathan, Nicolas, David, Brett, William, Matthew, and Michael. He was the brother of the late Josephine Harraka, Rose Corey, Weeda Nashawaty, Nora Plouff, George, Moses, and Charles Kando. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 10am in Saint Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, 249 High Street, Pawtucket. Burial with military honors will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 4-8pm in the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI, 02904, would be appreciated. www.rifuneral.com

Mr Kando, I never had the pleasure to meet you. But I know that you must have been an amazing man. To instill such great qualities in your daughter Leslie she is the most loving caring compassionate person with a huge Heart.I would have loved to have told you in person what an amazing friend I have. Your legacy will live on through her and I'm sure you are extremely proud of her and the wounderfull woman she is.
