William Hutchison Obituary
Chambersburg
On Sunday, September 10, 2017, William Ray Hutchison (Hutch) went to be with his Heavenly Father following a long illness.
William was born on December 7, 1927 in Columbus, OH to the late Glenn Hutchison and Estella Hutchison Crane. He graduated from McConnellsburg High School and attended the Chambersburg Area Business School. The late Jessie Bietsch Hutchison became his life-long wife in 1951 and together they bore seven children, Vickie Cundiff (wife of Robert) of New Freedom, William Hutchison, Jr. (husband of Linda), of Rock Hill, SC, Charles Hutchison (husband of Susan) of New Cumberland, Jack Hutchison (husband of Michelle) of Waynesboro, Cathy Baughman, of Mechanicsburg, Edith Eshleman (wife of Earl) of Yuchaipa, CA, and the late Clarence Hutchison. He is survived by 16 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, wife, and son, William was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Hutchison Jr.
William was last employed as a Purchaser at Letterkenny Army Depot. Additionally, he served as a Supervisor for St. Thomas Township for six years. He was a member of the Second Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg. During his lifetime many area boys were blessed by his love of being a St. Thomas Boy Scout Leader for almost 20 years and he was honored to receive the prestigious Order of Merit Award.
William will always be remembered for his quick wit and his respect and support of the Republican Party. He loved the outdoors and was an expert hunter, a tradition he carried on with his sons and grandsons.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, 3218 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg. The Pastor Jerry Timbrook will be officiating with remarks by William Hutchison Jr.
The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to Boys Scouts of America, Troop #370, c/o Nelson & Patty Layton, 5457 Race Track Road, St. Thomas, PA, 17252
