Mike passed away peacefullly on September 26, 2016 in Torrance, CA at the age of 78, surrounded by his family. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on July 9,1938, the son of Rivetta and Harry Bornstein. He graduated from Fairfax High School in 1956. Mike has been a resident of the South Bay since 1961. He grew up in the grocery business and owned his business until 1984. After that he moved into property management and later was instrumental in developeing a local catering business. Ever since he was a young boy, he has always maintained a love for animals having cared for dogs, cats, birds and reptiles his whole life. Another passion was the ocean and he spent many years on his boat traveling to Catalina. Most recently for his 78th birthday, accompanied by his sons, he enjoyed a week long halibut fishing trip in Alaska. Mike is preceded in death by his second son, Jeff (Rochelle). He leaves behind 3 sons, Greg (Lorraine), Scott (Cindy), and David (Kirsten); 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Debbie).
