Robert Bohrer Obituary

Rancho Santa Fe Robert J. "Bob" Bohrer, 88, passed away August 11, 2017 at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, with his family at his side. Born on March 3, 1929, in Chicago, IL, and raised in Detroit, MI, Bob relocated to southern California where he secured graduate and post-graduate degrees (UCLA; USC) and embarked on a career in the computer science industry, culminating in executive leadership positions at Computer Sciences Corporation and Litton Industries. Bob's passion was his family, and he prioritized them over any further career aspirations. He relocated the family to Rancho Santa Fe in 1971 and dedicated himself to their happiness and success. An avid athlete, Bob founded Rancho Santa Fe Youth and championed the cause of youth sports in Rancho Santa Fe. He worked with the community to develop the programs and facilities that remain to this day. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria; two sons, Brad and Robert; daughters-in-law, Meg and Paulette; and grandsons, Nico and Alex. As he dedicated his life to our success, we dedicate ours to his memory. In keeping with Bob's wishes, no public memorial services are planned. A celebration of life will be held at the Rancho Santa Fe Tennis Club, on September 9, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. Those who knew and loved Bob are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to the Robert J. Bohrer Memorial Youth Tennis Tournament c/o Youth Tennis San Diego / The Barnes Tennis Center 4490 West Point Loma Blvd., San Diego, CA 92107. Attn: Linn Walker 619-221-9000.
