Theodore M. Phelps

CAPUTA - Theodore M. Phelps, 80, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Fort Mede Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Survivors include seven sons, Farrel Phelps, Santa Cruz, Calif., Verland Phelps and Ted Phelps, both of Rockyford, Myron Phelps, Sisseton, Byron Phelps, Matthew Phelps and Stacy Phelps, all of Rapid City; seven daughters, Peggy Phelps-Means, Pine Ridge, Valarie Phelps-Arcoren, Rosebud, Debra Phelps-Davis, Denver, and Charlene Phelps, LaDonna Phelps, DeAnn Phelps-Salway and Lisa Phelps, all of Rapid City; one sister, Delilah McPherson, Rapid City; 28 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. First night wake will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Little Wound School in Kyle. Second night wake will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Mother Butler Center in Rapid City. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 20, at Mother Butler Center, with the Rev. Harold Condon and Richard Charging Eagle officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Delani Has No Horse and Rick Grey Grass. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements.
