She was the wife of the late Charles H. “Chap” Wilson, who died in 1990, and Keith N. Grant Sr., who died in 1997.
She was born on July 20, 1919, in West Chester, a daughter of the late Milford B. and Mabel D. (Mercer) Batting.
Kate was a graduate of Coatesville High School, class of 1937.
She retired after 29 years as a secretary for the Twin Valley School District.
She was a member of Honey Brook United Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Honey Brook Fire Company, Honey Book Senior Citizens and Honey Brook Women's Club, and was a volunteer of the Brandywine Hospital Auxiliary.
Kate is survived by a son, William C., and his wife, Louise Wilson, Honey Brook; a stepson, Keith N. Grant Jr., Elverson; and four stepdaughters: Susan E. McTyier, in New York; Dr. Linda A. Veblen-Spaks, Glen Cove, Md.; Deborah G. Lord, Moorestown, N.J.; and Sharon V. Gorsen, McLean, Va.
Other survivors include two grandchildren, 15 stepgrandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy McClure.
A memorial service will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in The Labs Funeral Home Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, with Pastor Susan Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the Honey Brook UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
