Martin Grounard Obituary

Martin V. “Marty” Grounard Martin V. “Marty” Grounard, 89, formerly of Shillington, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 in Rittenhouse at Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Marjorie “Peggy” (Drab) Grounard. Born in Madison, NJ, on February 26, 1931, Mr. Grounard was the son of the late John and Florence (Burns) Grounard. He was Chief Hospital Corpsman HMSC (SS) Submarine Service for United States Navy for 21 years, retiring in 1970. Marty was especially proud to have served on the USS Nautilus, the world’s first operational nuclear-powered submarine. His love of art, animals and gardening were traits he passed on to his children. In addition to his wife, Mr. Grounard is survived by his children Marjorie “Terri” Grube, wife of John Grube of Reading; Mark Grounard, husband of Ruth Ann Cole of Shillington; Suzanne Grounard of Shillington; his grandsons Ronald Grube, husband of Melissa Grube; and Christopher Grube, husband of Michelle Sterbach; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Daniel Grounard, husband of Agnes Grounard of Ledgewood, New Jersey.
