March 3, 1960 - April 27, 2024
Katherine A. Willett, 64, of Bristol and formerly of Southington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Bristol Hospital. Kathy was born on March 3, 1960 in Westmoreland, PA to the late Ralph Willett and Ann (Gilson) Cope. Kathy was a caring and selfless person. She worked as a hospice nurse for many years, always going above and beyond for her patients and their families. Kathy enjoyed nature, gardening, the beach and her cats. Most importantly, she loved and supported her two sons, Daniel and Drew. In addition to her sons, Daniel Pine of Ohio and Drew Pine of Bristol, Kathy is survived by her sister, Kristin Gagne and husband Al of Southington, one stepsister, Kelly Heffernan of Cape Cod, MA and her nieces, Becca, Sarah, and Melissa. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathy's memory may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111, (https://cthumane.org/) or to a local animal shelter of the donor's choice.
A Celebration of Kathy's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. I still can't believe that Kathy -- my close friend since second grade, favorite prankster and nature nerd, fellow lover of oddities and partner in crime -- is gone. She was probably the only person on the planet I was never once mad at, because she was always understanding and kind. I hope her fascination with the mysteries of life, her sense of adventure and the wisdom she gained through her work as a hospice nurse eased her through this transition. May her strength and wonderful, yet slightly wicked spirit be forever remembered and help all her family and friends carry on.
