Vicki Galloway Obituary

Vicki (Fowler) Galloway, 66, died in Las Vegas, NV on Sept. 7, 2012. Vicki was born on April 30, 1946 to Adolpha Samuel Fowler and Frances Ethel (Fey) in Hayward CA.

A viewing will be held at Myers Chapel, 248 N. "E" Street, Porterville CA on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A service of Tribute and Love will be held at Myers Chapel on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow at Vandalia Cemetery.

Vicki grew up in Campbell and lived in Atwater and Huntington Beach. While working at Montgomery Wards in Huntington Beach she met the love of her life and coworker, Wendol Ray Galloway. They were married on Dec. 31, 1967 then moved to Twin Falls, ID where she gave birth to Valerie in 1968. They lived in Anchorage, AK, Pasadena, TX, Koshkonong, MO, and Porterville, CA. In Porterville she worked at Warnack Pharmacy, Eagle Mountain Casino, and Century 21 where she made a lot of friends. When Wendol retired they moved to Tenkiller Lake, OK and there she came down with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). They then moved to Las Vegas, NV to be near an ALS clinic, Vicki eventually succumbed to the disease after a year and a half of living with it.

She loved working on her family genealogy, collected fruit stickers, worked on all sorts of crafts, and loved being on a bowling team. Most of all, she enjoyed her family, and her step-grandson, Colton Johnson. Her greatest joy was holding her only granddaughter, Sarah Jane Vaughn, who was born shortly before her death. She leaves behind her husband, Wendol R. Galloway; daughter, Valerie J. Vaughn and son-in-law James R. Vaughn; brothers, Ronnie L. Fowler, Roger F. Fowler; sisters, Rena McPherron, Judy Morey; a large extended family and many friends.

I am speechless and at a loss. I worked with Vicki on graveyard shift at Eagle Mountain Casino, what a kind soul and the shift flew by with the antics we did keeping each other awake. Walk in Peace.

There's an emptiness among us.
Loneliness, for we miss her and know that she is no longer available to talk, laugh, or giggle with us.
Sorrow, that is pretty raw…more raw than we expected.
There is anger underneath; who asked her or Wendol or Valerie, or any of us , whether she could develop this disease?
Relief, because she is no longer fighting her up-hill battle of pain, frustration, and fear.
Happiness because she is with those who have gone ahead, ….oh, picture how Mom hugs, and kisses her and lets her know how happy she is to see her, now that she has arrived.
Listen to how she tells them, what they already know, how much she was torn about going. How much she valued Wendol's love and care. She knew how difficult it was at times.
Listen to her excitement about Sarah, as everyone tells her that Sarah is going to be fine. That Valerie and James are good parents, and that she will be with them always with her love, and unspoken guidance and help.
Brothers, sisters, family…large, extended family, including so many friends …are doing fine. Everyone there can nod and let her know how much she is loved.
She's come Home!
Thanks be to God!
See you later, Sis!
