Mary Evelyn Morrison
June 17, 1919 - January 9, 2008
Mary Morrison passed away Wednesday January 9, 2008, at 88 years of age. Mary spent the
last three years of her life in Stockton, California as a resident of O' Connor Woods. Before moving to Stockton to be near her family, she had resided in Sacramento, California since1946. Born Mary Evelyn Griffith in Monroe Wisconsin June 17, 1919, Mary lived in several mid western states as the family moved frequently due the demands of her father's employment and the great depression. Mary graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota.
She married Angus C. "Andy" Morrison August 25, 1945, in San Francisco California where she was then living and working for the California rating bureau of a national life insurance company. Upon Andy's discharge from the United States Navy they moved to Sacramento to make their life-he as a deputy legislative counsel for the state of California and Mary as a loyal, loving wife and mother to her only child, Robert Morrison who is an attorney presently living in Stockton, California. After Andy passed away in 1964, Mary returned to the work force, serving as a legislative Secretary in the offices of then state Senators Stan Pittman and Lou Cusanovich. Mary retired at the end of 1977. In retirement she enjoyed the company of her many friends throughout California and the mid west, and of her son and his wife Jan-who Mary loved as the daughter she never had. The largest measure of Mary's love and pride was reserved for her granddaughter Laurie Morrison-now living in West Sacramento and her grandson Kevin Morrison-currently living in Sacramento. During retirement, Mary enjoyed travel and the out of doors with her friends and family.
Although her travels took her throughout the United States, her favorite destination was Drakesbad Guest Ranch in Lassen National Park. For 25 consecutive summers from 1978-2003, Mary stayed a week with her family at Drakesbad enjoying horseback riding, hiking, campfire conversations with other guests, reading on the porch of the lodge and generally communing with nature and her creator.
Mary was a member of Carmichael Seventh Day Adventist church. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service to be held at the church, 4600 Winding Way, Sacramento. The service will be held January 19, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers, may be made in Mary's memory to Lassen Volcanic National Park Foundation, P.O. Box 3155, Chico, California 95927.

My name is Nickole and I work at Casey's Hallmark in Sacramento. Mary had been a customer for many years. I lost track of her, but I am glad to know she has spent her last years with her family. In the line of work I do, I am truly blessed with the friendships I have acquired. Mary was one of them. She was a very sweet and special lady inside and out. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. She will be missed.
