THOMAS EDWARD VINSON October 6, 1948 ~ November 6, 2018 Thomas Edward Vinson (70) of Chico, California, passed away in the loving presence of family on Tuesday, November 6th 2018 in Paradise. Tom was born in Corning, California on October 6, 1948 to Ron and Olive Vinson. After graduation from Corning Union High School in 1966, a brief stint at Chico State University and the U.S. Army Reserves, opportunity sent Tom to Wisconsin where he earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Geological Sciences at UW-Milwaukee. A twenty-eight year career at Exxon-Mobil followed, starting in New Orleans, Louisiana and extending to far reaching areas of the globe including Texas. Upon retirement, Tom returned home to Northern California and residence in Chico. Tom is survived by sister, Lois Davis; brother Greg; wife Judith; sons Daniel and Michael; daughter in law Kimberly; granddaughters, Abigail and Emily; Uncle Loren and assorted beloved cousins and extended family. A ceremony of a life well lived will take place at Hall Brothers Mortuary on November 17th at 11 am, with graveside services to follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be November 16th from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vinson Family Scholarship through Corning Union High School. Special thanks to the doctors and staff of the late Adventist Feather River Hospital of Paradise, California.

Dear Judy, I just found out today from Carol and Scott of Toms passing. I am truly heart broken for you and your family. I was always hoping we would meet again get to reminisce about our field trip and school. It would be nice to hear from you. Please feel free to contact me anytime. I just now heard about Tom's passing. So sorry for your family's loss. I worked with Tom for many years at ExxonMobil in Texas. He was a great colleague and I loved his easy going manner no matter how intense the circumstances. He will be missed by all lucky enough to have known him!

I worked with Uncle Vinnie way back in the late 80s and early 90's at Exxon.. He had a wise, sly and humerous take on all things and was always a joy to chat with. My thoughts and kind regards to the family. He was an original.

Scott and I met Tom in geology classes at UWM. He and another "older" student kept us in line, for the most part, and inspired us to follow our dreams. I remember him telling us about being a house painter when someone read his aura and told him he should be a geologist. I guess they were right as he had a great career. Glad to have known you, Mr. Vinson.
