Jane Porter Obituary
Redding, CA
Jane passed peacefully to heaven surrounded by her family on November 27, 2016 at the age of 80.
Jane was born in 1936 and raised in Concord, CA. Jane was one of 8 siblings and enjoyed being part of a large, loving family. Jane graduated high school in 1954. Jane married and started her own family while in her 20's.
Jane will be dearly missed by her son Michael Paasche, his wife Elizabeth, her daughter Dawn Haskins, 4 grandchildren, Michelle, Jamie, Kimberly, and Travis, 1 great grandson Cato, 2 brothers Rich and Jim, and 3 nieces Patty, Barbara and Ruth.
Jane loved her family and enjoyed spending much time with them. Jane loved taking trips with her grandchildren and family vacations. Jane loved going on outings with her many friends as well. Jane enjoyed working in her beautiful yard and had a "green thumb." Jane worked in many different professions and had a strong work ethic. Jane was also a foster parent for many years. Jane enjoyed volunteering and volunteered her time at the YMCA, Turtle Bay, Redding Veterans Clinic, St. James Lutheran Church, and Golden Umbrella. Jane was a foster grandparent at a school for the last 17 years. She was known as "Grandma Jane".
Special thanks to Mercy Hospice (especially Jane's nurse Beth) thus allowing her to remain in her home surrounded by her family, friends and her little dog Peanut.
As per Jane's wishes there will be no services.
A small family gathering will be held to celebrate her life.

We had the privilege of being friends and neighbors with Jane for a number of years. She was a lovely, kind lady with a big heart.
We will hold special memories of her in our hearts and hope treasured memories will help her family heal from your loss.

Sorry to learn of your loss. We were fellow volunteers at Shasta Meadows Elementary School: she was with the Foster Grandmother's Program and I was with the program sponsored by Saint James. I enjoyed her company ay lunch time.

Dawn & Mike,
I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. She wanted me to call her but I didn't have the correct number. I did try. I don't do Facebook so heard about this from daughter Lorenda Rossi. We lived by Fulton Rd. on Guerneville Rd. behind the gas station in a prune orchard that is now a convenience shopping center in case you don't recognize my name. My Mom passed this year also. She was 100 years old. So difficult to have a Mom pass on. I let Carmen Robbins know also.
