Curtis Eakes Obituary
He was born on Sept. 19, 1938, in Greene County to F. Rudolph and Bernice Johnson Eakes. He was a devoted father, grandfather and friend.
Curtis was an Army Veteran and a member of Peace Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Eakes. He is survived by one son, Curtis Rudolph Eakes Jr. of Pactolus; a daughter, Melissa Hope Bunting and husband, Keith, of Winterville; one brother, Tim Eakes and wife, BJ, of Washington; two sisters, Dorothy E. Elks and Eleanor Eakes Gunsallus, both of Washington; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Will and Caroline Bunting and Claire and Blaire Eakes.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Ayden Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Farmer Funeral Service, Ayden, and other times at the home of his daughter, 371 Barrel Drive, Winterville.
Flowers are welcome, but memorial contributions may be made in Curtis' honor to Peace Chapel FWB Church, 2480 W. Fifth St., Washington, NC 27889.
