David Moss Obituary
He was born July 6, 1940, in Galesburg, the son of Clyde (Tip) and Dorthella Moss-Williams. He first married Esther L. Harris on Feb. 22, 1958, in Galesburg. She preceded him in death in 1998. He then married Billie Weinberg on Aug. 7, 1999, in Hyde Park. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, the Rev. Garry (Delphine) Moss of St. Charles, Brian (Jaime Andrade) Moss of Broadview, and David A. (Lucy) Moss of Aurora; a daughter, Dr. Kimberly (Doron) Moss-Dobbins of Aurora; two stepsons, Jeff and Greg Weinberg, both of Galesburg; a stepdaughter, Terri Weinberg of Cambridge; his sister, Dr. Ruby (Donald) Moss Porter of Cleveland, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, David (Joeysha) Dobbins, Brittney Dobbins, Kristyn, Garry, Kortney, Katherine, Jennifer and Evan David Moss; one great-grandchild, David Dobbins; seven stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Robert Williams; his first wife; a stepson, Doug Weinberg; and one brother, Clifton Williams.
He first worked for Burlington Truck Lines and then Lease Way Leasing. He later owned and operated E&D Piggyback Trucking. He also worked for the Maywood Park District Police. David retired in 1999. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1958 and attended Refrigeration Trade School. In his high school years he enjoyed working with Ms. Willabelle Williams at the Carver Center. He was past president of the Maywood Kiwanis Club, Maywood Little League and Elmhurst Lions Club and the Maywood Horseman Club. He also loved his faithful companion, his dog, Abby.
Memorial services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Garry Moss MDIV will officiate. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to Prairieland Animal Welfare Center. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
