Abilene, Texas
HR Chancey Jr., 90 of Abilene, Texas, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010.
Graveside services will be 1:00 Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday April 30 at Elmwood Funeral Home.
HR was born February 5, 1920 in Merkel, TX. He enlisted in the US Army March 1942 and served during WW II. By the time the war ended in 1954, he had served in eight campaigns as listed on his certificate of honorable discharge. These included: Tunisia, Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Central Europe, Ardennes and Rhineland. A long time businessman in Abilene, he was owner of Chancey Equipment Company for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian Chancey. Survivors include his sister Oma Reese of Kaufman, Texas, his son Rand Chancey and partner George Achziger of Fort Worth Texas, son Clay Chancey and his partner Bill Martin of Dallas, Texas, Granddaughter Jennifer Ramby and husband Jason Ramby of Plano, Texas, granddaughter Melissa Najera and husband Juven Najera of Mesa, Arizona, three great grandchildren Austin Ramby, Luke Najera, and Kyndal Ramby. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Special thanks to Kay Chancey I do not know what we would have done without her love and assistance.

Rand and Clay,
When we last saw your dad in January, his spirit was strong although we could see his body weakening. He was a remarkable man and remained inimitable to the end. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. Love, Mike, Jayne and Cameron Ford
